One-Pot Conversion of Furfural to γ-Valerolactone over Co- and Pt-Doped ZSM-5 Catalysts

γ-Valerolactone (GVL) is one of the useful biomass compounds produced via different reaction pathways from hemicellulose. In this study, Co- and Pt-doped/ZSM-5 catalysts with Co loadings (0–10 wt.%) Pt (0.5–2 were prepared by impregnation method employed in a one-pot conversion furfural to GVL. The yield GVL increased increasing temperature 100 140 °C. At 120 °C, higher amounts secondary products such as AL IPL can be converted GVL, especially on Pt-modified ZSM-5 catalysts. Compared non-modified H-ZSM-5 (GVL 35.4%), Pt-doped exhibited much 1%Pt/ZSM-5 catalyst showing highest at 85.4% °C 1 bar N2 without use liquid acid or external H2 supply. performances correlated physicochemical properties amount type sites.
